How to get to Soneva Fushi

There are two ways to reach Soneva Fushi from Malé airport. The first involves an exclusive scenic seaplane flight, and the second includes a domestic transfer to a nearby airport followed by a short speedboat ride. Both options have an approximate travel time of 30 - 40 minutes.

We strongly recommend the seaplane option as the preferred choice.

It's important to note that direct boat transfers to Soneva Fushi are available but unadvisable due to the significant distance from Malé (114km or 70 miles) and the high possibility of rough seas.

Soneva Fushi Location

Soneva Fushi is located in the Baa Atoll, north-west of the capital city of Malé.

Your Arrival at Malé Airport (MLE)

The Soneva experience commences upon your arrival at Malé International Airport. Upon collecting your luggage and passing through the exit doors, a Soneva Representative, identifiable by a wooden sign reading “Soneva,” will warmly greet you.

Your onwards journey will depend whether you choose seaplane or domestic transfer:

Option 1 - Exclusive Seaplane to Soneva Fushi

Your resort guide will assist you and your belongings into a Soneva vehicle, heading to the Soneva lounge just five minutes away. Upon arrival, check in and await your seaplane flight. In the meantime, take in close-up views of the seaplanes or enjoy the complimentary drinks, buffet and Wi-Fi.

Soneva Fushi Resort and Soneva Jani Resort share their own exclusive luxury seaplane (8Q-TAI) with their easily recognisable grey and purple branding. Previous this was operated by Trans Maldivian Airways but is now operated by Manta Air who fly to a pre-determined schedule to minimise your waiting time. Most seaplanes seat 14-19 passengers but the Soneva Seaplane takes just 10 passengers with each trip, allowing for a more luxurious journey.

Alternatively, you can also fly by Manta Air seaplane. Guests who have prepaid for the Soneva Seaplane but are instead transferred from Malé via the Manta Air seaplane will be provided compensation in the form of a resort credit.

The seaplane journey itself lasts around 30 - 40 minutes with stunning views of the Indian Ocean at an altitude of between 2,100 to 6,500 feet. The overall transfer duration may be a bit longer if flying with Manta Air as there may be stops, to drop off guests at other Baa atoll resorts, along the way.

Landing on the water near the island, seaplanes provide a unique arrival experience. After disembarking onto the floating seaplane platform, you'll proceed to a dhoni (local ferry boat) for a brief journey to reach the shores of Soneva Fushi. Resort staff will be there to assist guests and manage luggage.

Option 2 - Domestic Transfer to Soneva Fushi
