How to get Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa

You have two options to reach Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa from Malé airport: a scenic seaplane flight or a domestic transfer to a nearby airport followed by a speedboat ride. Both routes take approximately 75 minutes.

Typically, we advise choosing the seaplane option.

Please note that there are no boat-only transfers to Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa due to the considerable distance from Malé.

If arriving by private jet then guests have the option to fly directly to Maafaru International Airport, situated in the northern region of the Maldives. Upon arrival at Maafaru, guests can embark on a picturesque journey via a chartered seaplane, the Hideaway Majesty Yacht, or a domestic flight to reach the resort.

Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa Location

Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa is located in the northernmost atoll in the Maldives, the Haa Alifu Atoll. It is approximately 300 km (or 186 miles) north of Malé.

Your Arrival at Malé Airport (MLE)

Upon your arrival at Malé airport (Velana International) in the Maldives and completion of security procedures to enter the arrivals hall, a resort guide will be waiting to greet you. They will assist in directing you to the designated location for your onward transfer to Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa and can offer support with your luggage as needed.

The mode of transportation for your onward journey will depend on your choice between a seaplane or a domestic transfer:

Option 1 - Seaplane to Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa

Your resort guide will help you and your belongings into a vehicle for transport to the Noovilu Seaplane Terminal (NSPT) where the Lily Hotels Lounge is located - only a few minute's drive away. Once at the terminal you'll be able to check in and wait for your seaplane flight. In the mean time, you can enjoy some close up views of the seaplanes, or enjoy the luxuries of the lounge.

Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa relies on Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) seaplanes for transporting guests to the resort. TMA boasts the most extensive seaplane fleet globally, with a well-established reputation for reliability.

Once aboard the seaplane, the flight duration is estimated to be around 75 minutes. However, the transfer might be extended slightly if the plane makes stops to drop off guests at other resorts during the journey.

Seaplanes make a water landing just off the resort island. Upon arrival, guests disembark onto the arrivals jetty and can easily walk to the island. Resort staff will be available to assist guests and handle luggage throughout the process.

Option 2 - Domestic Transfer to Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa

Your airport guide will escort you to a comfortable domestic airport lounge where you can relax and enjoy complimentary refreshments while waiting for your domestic flight to the resort's nearby Domestic Airport. Complimentary Wi-Fi, food, and beverage refreshments are available for your convenience.

The closest airport to Hideaway Beach is Hanimadhoo International Airport (HAQ). Maldivian, the country's primary domestic carrier, operates regular flights using air-conditioned ATR-72 and ATR-42 turboprop aircraft, as well as Dash 8-200 and Dash 8-300 aircraft, renowned for their durability, advanced safety features, and consistent performance.

The total flight duration is approximately 50 minutes. Upon arrival at the local airport island, guests will board a speedboat for a further 20-minute journey to their ultimate destination - Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa.

It is possible you may instead land at Kulhudhuffushi Airport (HDK), which is slightly further south than Hanimadhoo Airport. In such cases, the speedboat transfer to the resort may be slightly extended, but all other arrangements will remain the same.
