How to get to Filitheyo Island Resort

The sole means of reaching Filitheyo Island Resort is by seaplane. The 35-minute seaplane journey from Malé International Airport offers guests a stunning introduction to their holiday, providing a panoramic view of the azure lagoons and meandering atolls.

This journey provides a glimpse of the mesmerizing landscape of pristine white sandy beaches stretching along turquoise waters that blend seamlessly with the vibrant blue of the Indian Ocean, completing the iconic image of paradise.

Due to the considerable distance from Malé (120km or 75 miles), there are no boat-only transfers available to Filitheyo Island Resort.

Upon your arrival at Malé airport (Velana International) in the Maldives and passing through security to enter the arrivals hall, you'll be greeted by a dedicated resort guide holding a wooden sign bearing the resort's name. They'll be available to guide you to your next transfer point and offer assistance with your luggage as required.

Your dedicated resort guide will help you and your belongings into a vehicle for a short drive to the seaplane terminal, located just a few minutes away. Upon arrival, you can proceed with the check-in process and await your seaplane flight. During this time, you can take in the close-up views of the seaplanes or relax in the comfort of the dedicated lounge.

Filitheyo Island Resort relies on seaplanes operated by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) for guest transfers. TMA boasts the largest seaplane fleet in the Maldives and has earned a reputation for reliability.

Once aboard the seaplane, expect a flight duration of approximately 35 minutes. However, the transfer may be slightly prolonged if the plane makes stops to drop off guests at other resorts in the along the way.

Seaplanes land on the water near Filitheyo, where guests disembark onto a floating seaplane platform. From there, a local ferry boat known as a dhoni transports guests to the island, a journey of about 10 minutes. Throughout this process, resort staff are available to assist guests and handle luggage.

These are the current costs for transfers to Filitheyo Island Resort. Transfers can be booked via the resorts website. Prices are per person for a return trip and include all taxes.

Do I have to transfer via seaplane?

Alternative modes of transportation within the Maldives, such as speedboat and domestic flights, are available options for many resorts. However, for Filitheyo Island Resort, these alternatives are not viable due to the considerable distance from Malé and the absence of a nearby domestic airport.
