How to get to Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort

Updated: 2024-04-15T13:41:08.891Z

There are two ways to reach Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort, departing from Malé. The first unfolds with a picturesque seaplane flight, while the second involves a domestic transfer to a nearby airport, followed by a speedboat ride. The seaplane take approximately 35-minutes, whereas the domestic transfer is a 20-minute internal flight followed by a 35-minute speedboat ride. In general, the seaplane option is our recommended choice. Notably, direct boat transfers to Avani+ Fares are unavailable due to the substantial distance from Malé (136km or 84 miles).

Your Arrival at Malé Airport (MLE)

Upon arrival and completing security procedures at Malé airport (Velana International), at the arrivals hall, a resort guide will meet you. They will help guide you to the appropriate spot for your onward transfer to Avani+ Fares and can assist with handling your luggage.

Your choice between a seaplane or domestic transfer will dictate the route of your onward journey:

Option 1 - Seaplane to Avani + Fares

Your resort guide will assist you and your belongings into a transport vehicle, heading to the seaplane terminal just a few minutes away. Upon arrival, check in and await your seaplane flight. In the meantime, take in close-up views of the seaplanes or opt for a lounge experience with refreshments at an additional cost.

Avani+ Fares uses Manta Air seaplanes for transfers to the resort. These seaplanes stand among the latest models in the Maldives and adhere to a predefined schedule, minimizing waiting times for guests.

While the seaplane journey itself lasts around 35 minutes, the overall transfer duration may be a bit longer if there are stops to drop off guests at other Baa atoll resorts.

Landing on the water near the island, seaplanes provide a unique arrival experience. After disembarking onto the floating seaplane platform in the lagoon, you'll proceed to a speedboat for a brief journey to reach the shores of Avani+ Fares. Resort staff will be there to assist guests and manage luggage.

Option 2 - Domestic Transfer to Avani+ Fares

The closest airport to Anani+ Fares Maldives Resort is located on the island of Dharavandhoo. The recommended domestic carrier for this route is Manta Air, known for its regular flights to Dharavandhoo using air-conditioned ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft, celebrated for their low greenhouse gas emissions and exceptional fuel efficiency.

The direct flight is a brief and non-stop journey lasting approximately 20 minutes. Upon arrival at the local airport island, guests will then proceed to board a speedboat for a 35-minute ride to reach the resort.

Is a seaplane or domestic transfer better?

Typically, we recommend a seaplane transfer to Avani+ Fares.

Seaplanes are an iconic feature of the Maldives, providing stunning views at a low flight level. The journey is truly extraordinary and is a must-try experience.

However, there are instances where a domestic transfer might be a more suitable choice. Choose a domestic transfer if any of the following conditions apply:

  • International flights arriving in the Maldives after 3pm Malé time (seaplanes only fly during daylight).
  • You don't want to go on a seaplane, or you have limited mobility which would make it difficult.
  • A cheaper transfer option is preferred or you have a significant amount of luggage
