To reach Six Senses Laamu Resort from Malé airport, you have two transportation options. The first is a scenic 65-minute seaplane flight, while the second involves a 45-minute domestic transfer to a nearby airport, followed by a 15-minute speedboat ride.

The resort recommend the seaplane option as the preferred choice unless arriving too late in the day.

It's important to note that there are no boat-only transfers to Six Senses Laamu due to the considerable distance from Malé (264km or 164 miles).

Your Arrival at Malé Airport (MLE)

Upon your arrival at Malé airport (Velana International) in the Maldives, after clearing security and entering the arrivals hall, a dedicated resort guide will be waiting for you. Holding a wooden sign with the resort's name, they'll assist you in finding your onward transfer point and can provide assistance with your luggage if needed.

Your onward journey options will vary depending on the time of day you arrive at Malé airport:

Option 1 - Seaplane to Six Senses Laamu

Your designated resort guide will be on hand to assist you and your belongings to a waiting vehicle for transportation to the nearby seaplane terminal, located just a short drive away. Once at the terminal, you'll be able to check in and await your scheduled seaplane flight. Meanwhile, you can enjoy close-up views of the seaplanes and relax in a comfortable lounge where there are washroom facilities, complimentary refreshments, and Wi-Fi services

Operated by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the Six Senses Private Seaplane, Flying Turtle (8Q-TAU), is a specially customized De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter seaplane exclusively for the use of guests visiting Six Senses Laamu. Equipped with 12 seats, the aircraft ensures an exciting journey across the azure waters of the Maldives. TMA is renowned for possessing the Maldives' most extensive seaplane fleet and maintaining a reliable track record.

Once you're aboard the seaplane, expect the flight to last around 65 minutes.

Upon arrival, the seaplane will touch down on the water near the island. From there, you'll disembark onto a floating platform and then be transported to the island by boat.

Throughout this process, resort staff will be available to assist guests and manage luggage to ensure a smooth arrival experience.

It is important to note that transfers can not be guaranteed in the Flying Turtle as this is dependant on the amount of passengers and timings of flights. If this is the case then you will be transferred by a commercial TMA seaplane to the resort.

  • You simply don't want to go on a seaplane.
  • You have limited mobility which would make it difficult.
