How to get to Kurumba Maldives

Kurumba Maldives is exclusively accessible via a 10-minute speedboat journey from Malé airport (Velana International).

Due to the short distance from Malé (4km or 2.5 miles), boat-only transfers are the sole method of reaching Kurumba Maldives. Seaplanes are not required for this journey.

Your Arrival at Malé Airport (MLE)

Upon your arrival at Malé airport (Velana International) and after clearing customs, you'll be greeted by one of the Kurumba team members holding a resort signboard. Once all Kurumba guests from your international flight have cleared customs, the team member will escort you to the Kurumba speedboat, just a short walk away. They are also available to assist with your luggage if required.

Do I have to travel by boat?

In short, yes. Travelling to Kurumba via boat is the only option, as it is the closest resort to Malé International Airport.

However, if you wish to explore the Malé Atoll from above, seaplane tours are also available.

There are specific advantages to a boat transfer though:

  • Unlike seaplanes, boats can journey at night, alleviating concerns about late arrivals of international flights
  • Waiting for the transfer to commence is typically minimal, as the boat is often ready upon your arrival
  • Boat transfers are significantly more economical compared to domestic flights or seaplane transfers
  • You are only bound by the luggage restrictions of your international flight, eliminating additional baggage concerns
